Jet Story Doesnt Fly With Texas Ufo Eyewitnesses

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - U.S. military officials say fighter jets were training in a rural area the night of Jan. 8 when dozens of people reported seeing a UFO.

Although officials at the Naval Air Station Reserve Base in Fort Worth initially said none of their planes were in the area of the UFO reports, they changed their story Jan 23, saying that 10 F-16 fighter jets built by Lockheed Martin Corp. were training near Stephenville, about 70 miles southwest of Fort Worth, about the time of the sightings.

But, some residents say the military's revelation actually bolsters their claims because several reported seeing at least two fighter jets chasing an object.

"This supports our story that there was UFO activity in that area," said Kenneth Cherry, the Texas director of the Mutual UFO Network, which took more than 50 reports from locals at a weekend meeting. "I find it curious that it took them two weeks to 'fess up. I think they're feeling the heat from the publicity."

Several dozen people swear that what they saw was larger, quieter, faster and lower to the ground than an airplane. They also said the object's lights changed configuration, unlike those of a plane.

"I guarantee that what we saw was not a civilian aircraft," Steve Allen, a pilot and freight company owner, said.

Mr. Allen said the fighter jets' training area in the Brownwood Military Operating Area, which includes Stephenville's Erath County, is not in the airspace where he saw the object. Also, Jan. 8 was not the only day sightings were reported.

Anne Frazor, who owns a fabric store in Stephenville said many in town have seen military aircraft zoom overhead from time to time as part of training operations. But she said that is different than what she saw Jan. 8.

"I couldn't begin to say what it was, but to me it wasn't planes," Ms. Frazor said.

Since the reported sightings, the 17,000-resident town has had some fun with the international publicity. Some high-schoolers made T-shirts that read "Stephenville: the new Roswell" on the front and "They're here for the milk!" on the back. A picture features flying saucer beaming up a cow.

The U.S. Air Force says it has not investigated UFO sightings since 1969 when it ended Project Blue Book, which examined more than 12,600 reported UFO sightings-including 700 that were never explained. That program started a few months after a 1947 crash near Roswell, N.M., which the government said involved a top-secret weather balloon but others involved later said was an alien spacecraft.

"What we want is the government to admit there are UFOs and what they know about them," Mr. Cherry said.

The Los Angeles Area has huge amounts of Air Traffic and so seeing air craft is as common as seeing a bird in most instances, what struck me as being odd about the object is that unlike every other aircraft in the field of view, both fixed wing and helicopters, this object had no Navigational lights or any other kind of standard aircraft outboard lighting. The objects appeared to me as if it had hit exit velocity and escape the Earths gravity, I did not here any tell tail sonic booms to indicate that this was the case, i may have been just to far away to here. The is a naval air station north OF LOS ANGELES county where it is possible the craft was lAUNCHED. If it is one of Uncle Sam's rides then hats off cause that thing was BADASS!

According to the "New York Daily News", the documents obtained by George Washington University's National Security Archive confirm that Area 51 exists as a small rectangular area in southern Nevada, adjacent to a salt flat known as Groom Lake.

The site was never identified on any of the government maps for decades and was used by the CIA as a testing facility in the 1950s for the U-2 spy plane.

The documents also stated that in order to make the facility in the middle of nowhere sound more attractive, one of the men in charge of the U-2 program renamed the place as 'Paradise Ranch' which was later shortened to 'Ranch'.

The report said that given the testing of futuristic planes, numerous UFO sightings were reported in the vicinity of the secret base and reports from people employed on the base spurred grandiose theories on what the government was keeping hidden from view.

However, none of the conspiracy theories, claiming that the government was hiding a crashed alien aircraft or developing a device to control the weather, have been mentioned in the newly declassified documents.

Somewhere between Truman and Kennedy, even the president didn't have the proper security classifications to see any files pertaining to UFOs. Not that there wasn't any interest, a number of U.S. presidents have seen unidentified flying objects.

Learning what was known about them was on the top of Jimmy Carter's list when he moved into the oval office. Having seen a brilliant light and watched it change colors with a group of his contemporaries in Georgia in 1969, President Carter knew UFOs were no hoax. He was informed his access was on a need-to-know basis and he had no need to know. Isn't that interesting? There is no such thing as UFOs, but you have to have a need-to-know to know about nothing. Now that's knowing something.

Evidently, JFK was told he had no need to know too, but wasn't taking no for an answer. Ten days before he was shot, President Kennedy wrote letters demanding he be sent the files to both the Director of the CIA, and the head of NASA. Some conspiracy theorists think this could be the reason for his assassination. They could be wrong, there were a long of strong undercurrents on the Hill in those political days.

The Battle of Los Angeles took place during Franklin Roosevelt's administration. While FDR doesn't seem to be particularly interested in UFOs or aliens, both his Secretary of State and his wife were. Cordell Hull gave his cousin a tour of the Capitol when he visited D.C. as a young man. No mention of this story appears in Secretary of State Hull's memoirs. However, in his later years, Rev. Turner Holt told the story to his family to ensure the information didn't die with him. Harry Willnus knows all too well that eyebrows will rise when he talks about unidentified flying objects, but that doesn't stop the retired social studies teacher from continuing his 60-year quest to see the issue become accepted by the mainstream population.

"UFO sightings are reported every day around the world and in every country around the world," said the Salem resident and former president of the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON), the world's largest investigative body looking into the UFO phenomena.

Willnus, like other UFO enthusiasts ask, "Are we alone in the universe?"

That question will be the focus of his appearance on the Science Channel's show "Close Encounters." Now in its second season, Willnus will appear on an upcoming episode scheduled to air at 10 p.m., March 10. Willnus will share his vast knowledge about the highly publicized March 1966 reported UFO sighting in Dexter,. He'll be on the show again, at 10 p.m., March 31, talking about a reported sighting in Exeter, N. H.

In the March 20, 1966, Dexter case a group of people, including police officers, reported seeing an object turn from a blue green to a brilliant red to a yellow coloring. It rose 500 feet and returned to the ground, one man said.

Trying to investigate further, the officers said they went out to the far edge of the wooded area and also saw a brilliant light appear and then disappear. The officers said when they returned to their patrol vehicle, a group of people had gathered and reported seeing something similar. These witnesses said the object departed in a western direction at a high rate of speed.

AREA REPORTS

A UFO investigator, Willnus sat in the living room of his home and retold other stories of what he believes are extraterrestrial visits. Like a sighting by WJR reporter Marc Avery on Feb. 10, 1978.

Avery was on his way to the airport on Interstate 275 when he and his wife saw two lights hovering over their car "for 30, 40, 50 seconds." He called the radio station and spoke on air, describing the aircraft with Warren Pierce. Willnus has the report recorded on his smart phone.

The citing was never debunked, Willnus said. In fact, two men, who were walking in the Merriman Road and Michigan Avenue area later reported they saw a similar aircraft about five minutes before Avery's report.

The U.S. Air Force investigated UFO sightings from 1947 to 1969, in Project Blue Book, which consisted of 12,618 accounts spanning nearly 130,000 pages, Willnus said. The project was discontinued, however, after a committee formed at the request of President Gerald Ford concluded UFOs weren't a threat to national security.

SIGHTINGS ON THE RISE

Sightings have doubled in the last couple of years, Willnus said.

"This major increase shows there's something going on," he said. "It's driving the interest in the number one question: 'Are we alone?' Are there other intelligences out there?

"After studying UFOs, it becomes obvious we are not alone," Willnus continued. "I base that on the fact that there are 200 sightings every day around the world. There's pictures, photos and movies. It's not a hoax when these crafts can disappear before our eyes. Or fly at over 1,000 miles an hour and make a right angle turn - or, stop on a dime."

Willnus also refers to a case involving former Novi resident Nancy Tremaine, who had described being abducted by a UFO off Orchard Drive near Meadowbrook Road in the 1960s. Former Novi Police Chief Lee BeGole, who spoke to the Novi News last year at age 93, didn't see the UFO, but he was on duty at the police station the night the incident occurred.

BeGole said an off duty officer told dispatch he saw a strange object overhead and police dispatch took multiple calls from people who said they also saw a strange object in the sky.

"But, people get laughed at once they say that," Willnus said. "And then they say, 'I'm not going to share that again.'"

He does note, however, that 90 percent of reported UFOs can be explained by something other than an extraterrestrial visit. The "UFO" might actually be a blimp, a flock of birds flying at night or even the planet, Venus, because it's the closest to Earth and moves quickly.

"The other 10 percent, we're not sure what they are," Willnus added. "I think a good many of those are that we are being visited by intelligent life off the planet Earth. Look at the evidence. The evidence is, overwhelmingly, there is a UFO phenomenon that we don't understand at this time.

"I'm getting up there and I want this story to break before I pass," he said. "Some people in the U.S. government are aware we are being visited. This is a cosmic Watergate where there is a cover-up keeping this from people. The best thing that could happen is if governments, including the United States, would come out and say, 'The UFO phenomenon is real and don't panic, because they don't appear to be here to harm us.'"

I saw the same objects three week to the day just later in the night it shocked me that time at first then I ran to get a camera this time I just ran to get the camera. When I got returned to the back yard it was almost even with my house it was just East of me flying slow and not high 500 feet or less I would say they are about 25 to 305 feet across it may even be 40 feet across. The object had what looked like a cloud or mist of what I would have to say is energy around it and it moved like in waves or like it was jumping slow then a bit faster then it looked as if it slow down again then jump or move faster that is why I say it looked as if it moved in waves. I was able to take some pictures of it as it past me it made a slight bank or changed the flight path just a bit to the North East just as it past. I was looking at the pictures I just took on the cameras small monitor but I could only see a orange dot. I when back to my pool equipment I looked South again and here comes one more WOW I could not believe it this object was just a bit more East on its flight path but was moving at the same speed this one did have as much of the cloud around it. But it was the same as object I just saw less then three minutes before. I took some picture of it also as it past. I have not changed any thing at all with the photos. One of the photos # 002 there is so much in the picture if you don't zoom in to much you can see round red balls above and below the object you can see a square of orange yellow white light and at the front of the object it looks as if there is some thing hanging down from it and what my be windows in the front above the bright light. When I took the pictures it looked like it was a strange orange ball flying but it is so much more much you only see the out line of the ball it has a flat bottom and it is a little harder to make out but there is a dome shape top I saw none of this. The object at the back and at the center you can see one large circle and a cone in the center of the circle and a area shaped like a V that looks cooler the rest on the bottom of the object. There is also one other smaller circle just to the side of the the larger circle. At no time did ether object make a sound at all and the strange orange color ball thing is really to hide the craft. This is the third time and four objects right here the first was in March then three weeks to the day before 7-10-2013. Each time the crafts are flying slow low and come out of the same location going the same way I think that there may be many more flying over the community I live in. The photos I took #002 is the best UFO picture I have ever seen not because I took them because the craft was so close you don't need to zoom much to see so much detail and by luck the date is right below the craft. In photos # 005 and 006 you can see what I many by the craft moved in waves. I can say I am nerves because I took some with the flash on and I could be located very easy if someone would want to fine the location the pictures were shot from. When I wrote my book about officially documented UFO reports, I fully expected the skeptics to react. That's why I was careful to focus only on the very best evidence from the most credible sources in "UFOs: Generals, Pilots and Government Officials Go on the Record." Since 95 percent of all sightings are eventually identified, the book is concerned only with the remaining 5 percent - those UFO events that have been thoroughly investigated, involve multiple witnesses and ample data, but still cannot be explained.

That didn't stop James Oberg, a space analyst for NBC News, from complaining that the book was based on a "questionable foundation."

In the biographical note appended to his commentary, he notes that he spent 22 years at NASA's Mission Control and has written books about space policy and exploration. But he neglects to inform readers of something UFO researchers already know all too well: that he is a founding fellow of the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry (CSI, formerly CSICOP), a group whose aim is to debunk UFOs and any other unexplained phenomena that challenge our familiar ways of thinking.

For many years, Oberg, while retaining his stance as an objective student of the UFO phenomenon, has been a consistently vocal skeptic. His long list of articles dealing with UFOs date from the 1970s and are posted on his website under the heading "space folklore," which accurately sums up his attitude towards the subject. He may be qualified to serve as an unbiased, expert consultant on Russian or Chinese missile systems, but not on UFOs.

I've always been pretty much ok with the fact that there are three types of "Close Encounters" one can have with a UFO. To review, a Close Encounter of the First Kind involves seeing a UFO within a distance of 500 feet. Do we really need eight Kinds of Close Encounters? Let's look at the facts, as we Certified UFO Field Investigators are fond of saying: A CE4K, they tell me, involves an alien abduction. Myself, I'd happily stick to the original three, but suddenly I find that I can't. I've just been assigned a new UFO sighting to investigate, and my MUFON State Director thinks it might be a CE4K! Of course, that's what she thought about the last case she assigned to me, and that didn't go anywhere.

Here's the case, in a nutshell: Way back in September, 1997 a guy was driving home from work late at night on a deserted country road. As he neared his neighbor's farm, he saw a huge black triangular object hovering just below the tops of the trees behind the farmhouse. It had bright colored lights on each corner, and made no sound. The witness parked and got out of his car, then immediately got back in his car, terrified, as the object flew overhead and then disappeared out over a cornfield.

He says the sighting has haunted him since then and he finally decided he had to tell someone. He also adds this chilling note that I feel obliged to share with you, because it could make a difference in your life someday: "People always say they want to see a UFO up close like I did," he says. "NO YOU DON'T. It's not cool, it's scary as hell, it's not how you imagine it, trust me."

I still don't know where the CE4K abduction thing comes in, but I'll find out. I'm an Investigator, and that's what I do.

At that time the full moon was low and a bit to the north and blocked by the house next door so it did not interfere with my observation.
