* Years ago I was surfing around the net and found myself in a chat room that was full of adults discussing UFO's and aliens. I listened for a long time as a strange woman talked in a monotone slow soft voice intentionally trying to control the people listening to her in this chat room. The woman speaking tried her best to portray a mysterious air of one knowing all the secrets of the universe.

Of course this was a silly lost soul seeking attention for agenda's of her own strange needs. Her knowledge of space and science was extremely limited. Her claim of flying around the universe was closer to a Disney ride then anything closely related to reality.

She also claimed to have about 50 odd aliens whom she visited by way of a portal in her bedroom closet. She had adorable drawings of the cutest little cuddly little alien fellows of all different kinds on her profile. She added a lovely touch of having them dressed in cute little monk style robes or sweet little outfits that really tied her ridiculous story together with a true flare.

The thing that caught my attention the most was not the silliness of this lost woman but the group of adults who sat listening to her hanging on every single childish word as fact.

I wondered why it never occurred to any of them that it was highly unlikely that 50 different alien species would all be visiting her by way of her bedroom closet. I found it strange that not one person questioned the idea that the aliens were able to walk around our planet's atmosphere and survive much less be dressed in robes and overall jeans! I think about my visit to that chat room with a shake of my head and a smile.

Maybe we all have gotten our brains dummy juiced by way of Hollywood concerning our concept of what aliens would look like. Typically most people think of them as the grays with large dark almond shaped eyes, or little green men. There are other forms that seem to be popular including reptilians, bug looking aliens and tall blond fair skinned visitors.

The truth is the possibilities in this universe are endless as to what other life forms may look like. I know there are billions and billions of galaxies in our universe each with millions of stars. Each star may have planets or solar systems which may contain millions of civilizations of all kinds of living beings.

There might be other intelligent life forms that may be like us. This of course would require many things to be like our chemical and DNA makeup. We are a carbon based life system. Chances are there may be others.

This is where we seem to lose our thinking. Chances are they are not carbon based but something else and are not DNA by design but QNA or something completely unknown to our structure.

Let's think about a solar system like Sirius which a very hot star making it impossible for humans to exist. It would however be a place that maybe silicon based beings could evolve and advance. They could survive in an environment we could not.

They also would be beings made from the same material our computers have developed from. Could beings like that be more machine like with less biological material to worry about in their harsh chemical life base? Could those who visit us be closer to our computers then to us? Could that be why we are being walked towards an era of technology where we constantly have cell phones to our heads or walk mindlessly texting throughout our days? Maybe it is no accident we are addicted to our gadgets, our computers and our Televisions. It does give me pause and reason to turn off from the technology grid and tune in to my own humanity. I am not ready to become a walking living programmed machine.

What if our universal neighbors live on a gaseous planet? Could they be large cloud like thinking floating jelly fish type creatures absorbing what they need from their atmosphere and communicating via telepathy?

I can imagine beings of other planets being fish like, bug like or even pure energy without any specific form. I would imagine most beings would have some type of form to hold a brain type structure and many with appendages to build or function. I also realize that they may have two or more brains and many appendages. There also could be those who have mastered the ability to use their brains or thought to move objects and have no need for any type of arms or legs at all. They may be floating brains of energy that simply think life and it happens.

The point is that we need to include science and be realistic when thinking about and preparing for other life forms in our universe. To constantly think they have to resemble us to some degree is just typical egotistical human thinking. They may look somewhat like us and they may not look like us at all.

Aliens most likely would not be able to cope with our climate and planet's atmosphere just as we cannot simply walk out on Mars surface or for that matter our own Moon. I would think that protective suits or covering would most likely be needed by visiting alien species. I would not be surprised if the grays are exactly that- aliens in protective suits.

Someday we will understand much more about the universe we live in. I think the best thing we can do is keep our minds open and our options wide concerning whom or what shares this universe with us.

Along with the difference in structure, chemical makeup and body design of other life forms we must understand that they also will have different life views. Things we consider important may not be of any consideration to an alien. Things we find offensive or cruel may be common place and normal to a life form with little or no knowledge of the ways of humans.

It would be foolish for us to make our assumptions of life out there by way of life here. The only thing we can be sure of is that we have no idea what is past our own backyard. Once we grasp that fact and understand it is impossible for us to be alone we can begin to slowly reach towards the stars and all those who share this big amazing universe with us.

It had gone from a stationary object to a moving object then it went straight up and disappeared. We didn't feel anything other than trying to understand what it was we had seen.

Full Description of event/sighting: I was sitting watching T.V. when my roommate came home from work. He was very excited that he had experienced multiple sightings while on the road at work. First he noticed what seemed to be white lights. They were stationary and low in the sky. On his way home he was getting off of the 400 hundred highway off ramp when he noticed a green orb that shot downward and disappeared over the trees close to where the police station is. After relating to everyone in the house his news the four of us proceeded out to the front of the house to have a look at the night sky, the time was approx 7:30 pm. We noticed to points of light low in the sky which seemed to change colors. These at first glance appeared to be stars but were very bright and low in the sky. One of my roommates then noticed a dark bluish green orb that was even lower and closer and traveled at an impressive speed from the south traveling north.As it moved over the top of my house we noticed it changed color from dark bluish green to white. It moved so fast that we chased it on foot as far as we could until it disappeared over the house tree line. This object made no noticeable noise and again traveled quite fast. Shortly after i noticed a plane which was also visible and traveling considerably slower than the object we had just witnessed.

MUFON has a new Executive Director!Dave "The Captain" McDonald is stepping down after 18 months and his big old shoes will be filled by a guy named Jan Harzan, about whom I know nothing. Turns out The Captain only signed up for an 18 month gig, and his time is up. Now, back when The Captain first took the reins 18 months ago, I questioned why the entire organizational headquarters -- the files, the desks, the paperclips, the Post-Its -- had to be moved from Denver to Cincinnati, so now I wonder where they will be moved next and if I will be asked to help with the move...While I wait to hear about that, here's what I know about Mr. Not The Captain Jan Harzan: He is not a Captain; He wants to beef up MUFON's presence in social media; He wants the general public (that's you!) to have better access to MUFON's case files; He wants to promote the most serious, most remarkable UFO sightings; and he wants to work more closely with the French UFO organization GEIPAN ("Groupe d'Etudes et d'Informations sur les Ph'enom`enes A'erospatiaux non Identifi'es"). Solar wind can flow in through the opening to "load up" the magnetosphere for powerful geomagnetic storms. But the breach itself is not the biggest surprise. Researchers are even more amazed at the strange and unexpected way it forms, overturning long-held ideas of space physics."At first I didn't believe it," says THEMIS project scientist David Sibeck of the Goddard Space Flight Center. "This finding fundamentally alters our understanding of the solar wind-magnetosphere interaction."The magnetosphere is a bubble of magnetism that surrounds Earth and protects us from solar wind. Exploring the bubble is a key goal of the THEMIS mission, launched in February 2007. The big discovery came on June 3, 2007, when the five probes serendipitously flew through the breach just as it was opening. Onboard sensors recorded a torrent of solar wind particles streaming into the magnetosphere, signaling an event of unexpected size and importance.RIGHT: One of the THEMIS probes exploring the space around Earth, an artist's concept. [more]"The opening was huge-four times wider than Earth itself," says Wenhui Li, a space physicist at the University of New Hampshire who has been analyzing the data. This kind of influx is an order of magnitude greater than what we thought was possible."The event began with little warning when a gentle gust of solar wind delivered a bundle of magnetic fields from the Sun to Earth. The entire day-side of the magnetosphere was open to the solar wind."The circumstances were even more surprising. Here is why they can't believe their ears: The solar wind presses against Earth's magnetosphere almost directly above the equator where our planet's magnetic field points north. Suppose a bundle of solar magnetism comes along, and it points north, too. The two fields should reinforce one another, strengthening Earth's magnetic defenses and slamming the door shut on the solar wind. In the language of space physics, a north-pointing solar magnetic field is called a "northern IMF" and it is synonymous with "shields up!"So, you can imagine our surprise when a northern IMF came along and shields went "down" instead," says Sibeck. "This completely overturns our understanding of things."Northern IMF events don't actually trigger geomagnetic storms, notes Raeder, but they do set the stage for storms by loading the magnetosphere with plasma. A loaded magnetosphere is primed for auroras, power outages, and other disturbances that can result when, say, a CME (coronal mass ejection) hits.The years ahead could be especially lively. Raeder explains: "We're entering Solar Cycle 24. For reasons not fully understood, CMEs in even-numbered solar cycles (like 24) tend to hit Earth with a leading edge that is magnetized north. Such a CME should open a breach and load the magnetosphere with plasma just before the storm gets underway. It's the perfect sequence for a really big event."Sibeck agrees. Not able to ascertain the altitude, but it seemed to be rather low. It looked like a paper lantern but speed was constant and there was no deviation in direction. The light seemed to flicker like a flame. I lost visual of light behind tall trees. Came online to see if anyone else has reported seeing it. At 5:45AM my boyfriend left the house for work and before he left I remembered I asked him to leave the light in the hallway on. I was scared but had no time to tell him about the crazy dreams.

After work came home and took a shower I was looking all over my body for some clues but found nothing I even told my boyfriend to check my right ear because was hurting a little he said I had something like a pimple but that was it.

Two days later came from work around 5PM and the TV was off, when I noticed the TV screen inmediately asked my boyfriend if he was playing with my head because until this day I think I'm crazy just by think something so different and unknown can happen to me, but he told me no, I do believe his word. Lou Williams didn't stay with the Raptors in Oklahoma City during their recent three-game road swing.

Both are older hotels. The Skirvin was built in 1911. The Pfister predates even that, opening its doors in 1893.

The Skirvin is believed to be spooked by a former maid who had an affair with the hotel's owner and became pregnant. As the story goes, in order to keep the affair a secret, the owner imprisoned her in a 10th-floor room, where she eventually gave birth and fell into a depression when, even after the birth, she was still denied her freedom.

As legend goes, the maid jumped to her death one day, taking the baby with her.

There have been multiple accounts over the years of men claiming to have been joined in the shower by a naked female or propositioned by a female voice while alone in their rooms.

The Raptors still use the Skirvin in OKC, and did so last Saturday night. It could have been a two-night stay, but the Raps stayed overnight in Charlotte after a game there Friday, practised there on Saturday and then flew to OKC for the Sunday game.

They have used the Pfister in Milwaukee, although this year they moved over to the InterContinental. Whether they return is anyone's guess, but Williams will find his own lodgings if they do.

Williams has been doing so since 2009 when he had his first and only experience with, what he can only surmise were, ghosts.

He was playing with the Philadelphia 76ers and checked into the Pfister, which bills itself as "the premiere hotel in downtown Milwaukee."

With the team charter arriving late, Williams went right to his room and, as he always does, locked and chained the door.

As is also customary, team staff left the next morning's practice sweats hanging on a loop on the outside door handle of each player's room.

"I remember hearing my practice loop hitting the door but, in hotels, I make it a habit to put my latch on and lock the door," Williams said. "I got up at 3 or 4 in the morning to use the bathroom and my practice loop was on the inside of my door."

That's the last time Williams has stayed in either hotel.

"I never really paid any attention to the stories before that," he said. "I knew it was supposed to be haunted, but I thought it was funny. Then that happens and it's not so funny anymore."

Williams won't admit to being afraid of ghosts, but he has kept his distance ever since.

"I'm still not scared of ghosts," Williams said Thursday after recounting his story. "I just don't want it to happen again, but it definitely freaked me out, for sure."

Raptors head coach Dwane Casey wasn't even aware thata Williams was making his own plans this past weekend, but he's certainly heard the stories of the two hotels being haunted.

He even believes there are a few teams in the league that avoid those hotels all together because of he stories.

The New York Knicks, famously, once blamed a loss on a rough night at the Skirvin.

It was early January of 2010 and the Knicks had a two-night stay in Oklahoma City. Eddy Curry, who stands seven feet tall and weighed almost 300 pounds when he was in the NBA, claimed to have slept only two hours in total he was so worried about the ghosts roaming the hotel. One story had him spending most of the night in teammate Nate Robinson's room.

The Pfister has a more extensive haunted history with Major League Baseball teams than basketball teams, Williams' story notwithstanding.

But like Williams, both Pablo Sandoval, then with the San Francisco Giants and then teammate Edgar Renteria refused to stay at the hotel in 2010 after both had an unexplainable experience the year before. Both packed up and checked into another hotel down the block.

DeMar DeRozan said the Raptors are aware of Williams' experience and not much gets said about it.

Asked if he believed the story when he first heard it, DeRozan was initially skeptical but quickly added: "I don't argue with my teammate. If he says it happened, then I believe him. Me, personally? I've never seen anything."

Williams says he's heard of other players in the NBA who, like him, avoid those two hotels and find their own accommodation but he doesn't offer names.

And as for taking any grief from his own teammates, he says there hasn't been a hint of it.

"No, not at all," Williams said. "They understand. Some of them probably want to do the same thing but they don't want to say it. Others have their wives or kids on the road with them so they have company. I don't have company so I've got to stay somewhere else."

It's not like he can't afford it.

"I just pay for my own room somewhere else," he said. "I pay 150 or 200 for some peace of mind." - Toronto Sun

SHREVEPORT, La. - A major TV show about witches called Salem has been shooting in the Shreveport Metro area for the past year and they are at it again for season 2. The set of Salem has some elaborate indoor stages in downtown Shreveport's Stageworks building. The outside village set is located not too far from Shreveport in the town of Grand Cane.
