But there's a surprising number of other moons and dwarf planets that, scientists suspect, contain vast, deep oceans beneath an icy outer shell. Since we can't actually see underneath the surface, scientists usually detect evidence for the presence of liquid water by using satellites that take pictures during flybys. If there's liquid water underneath, it tends to escape through cracks in the surface and create distinctive plumes, which spacecraft then study for evidence of water vapor or molecules.

Most of these objects are moons, like Titan and Callisto, or dwarf planets, like Eris and Pluto, all of which are much smaller than Earth. They are almost all completely unexplored except by brief satellite flybys. The one exception is Saturn's largest moon, Titan.

In 2005, a space probe named Huygens landed on Titan, becoming the first spacecraft to successfully touch down on any celestial body in the outer solar system, beyond Mars. Huygens studied the moon's atmosphere and relayed the data to Earth for about 90 minutes after touchdown.

Witness (name Eduardo) and I both belong to the 24 Hour Fitness health club and mainly use the hot tub in order to treat long standing injuries to leg and back. Recently, the hot tub at the Santa Barbara location was closed due to renovations. Eduardo initially began telling me, as we both soaked, that he needed the tub badly enough that he had gone to several other locations for 24hr Fitness in order to use their hot tubs. However, while in San Francisco, which is where his parents live, he had a very strange experience.

Apparently he looked up and went to what he thought was the location of a 24hr Fitness in San Francisco. When he got there, without noticing anything out of the ordinary he simply opened the door of the location and walked inside. However, after entering he was struck by the fact that building seemed completely empty and only a few lights were on. Believing hed made a mistake he turned around and attempted to open the door he had just come through only to find it locked. A bit disconcerted he walked towards a light that was on across the room and called out several times. Suddenly out of nowhere there were two beings standing near him. He described them as tall, extremely thin, bone white and with inhumanly large eyes. He even held up circled thumb and forefinger to indicate how much larger than normal eyes they were. He described them as looking like dead people. They both wore institutional green coveralls with a breast patch that read "engineering". He remarked that the coveralls seemed extremely old. They were not terribly polite and told him he was not supposed to be in the building. They led him to another door in the building, not the one he had entered through, and unceremoniously saw him through it. A seven-year-old boy who spent a freezing night lost in the wilderness says a friendly kangaroo is the reason for his survival.

Simon Kruger was winched to safety yesterday, nearly 24 hours after he went missing in the Deep Creek Conservation Park, on South Australia's Fleurieu Peninsula.

He and his family were having lunch at Deep Creek on Saturday when he wandered off into scrub.

"He was playing outside, picking up sticks and he saw a wallaby walk by and he followed it into the bush," Simon's father Etienne Kruger said.

Simon said he picked flowers for his mother before coming up close with a local.

"A kangaroo came closer to him and ate the flowers from him, and the kangaroo fell asleep next to him," Mr Kruger told 7News.

"I think God sent a kangaroo to keep him warm."

The boy's mother Linda said: "I think it was a miracle, when I smell his jacket, it's kangaroo - bush and kangaroo."

Police mounted a huge search on Saturday night, even using parachute flares to try and guide Simon to them.

"I saw the helicopters, but they couldn't see me," Simon said.

He was spotted nearly 24 hours after he disappeared and winched back to safety and into the arms of his elated parents.

Although Simon's parents will now be keeping a closer eye on him, they say the weekend's events won't stem their son's sense of adventure.

"Hopefully he'll refer to it as an adventure, so we'll keep it at that, a bit of a jungle book story," Mr Kruger said. - Yahoo

FATHER AND SON LIVED IN JUNGLE FOR 40 YEARS

A Vietnamese father and his son who fled to the jungle during the war four decades ago have been persuaded to leave, officials say.

Ho Van Lang and his 82-year-old father reportedly shunned contact with the outside world after three family members were killed by a landmine.

For most of their time in the jungle their whereabouts was unknown.

They were discovered living in dense foliage in central Quang Ngai province and were barely able to communicate.

Mr Ho was said by officials to only know a few words of the local Cor dialect.

Vietnamese media reported that Mr Ho's brother succeeded in tracking the pair down 20 years ago, but had not been able to persuade them to return to modern society.

Local media initially reported that the 82-year-old's wife had been killed by the mine, but it subsequently emerged that it was in fact his mother and her two grandchildren.

While in the jungle, the pair wore only loincloths and used a homemade axe to chop down trees. They survived on corn, fruits and cassava roots from the jungle.

They lived in a tree house, five metres above ground, where they kept arrows for hunting and knives for killing animals.

The older man kept his military trousers neatly folded in a corner as well as the little red coat his son was thought to have been wearing when they fled.

A party of local people who discovered them were reported to be startled by their wild appearance and outlandish gestures.

They reported their find to the leaders of a local commune, who deployed a team to track them down.

After a five-hour search on Thursday the team located the father and son in their tree house.

Officials say that Mr Ho fled to the jungle after being traumatised by the mine explosion.

MYSTERIOUS 'ANGEL PRIEST'

A mysterious Catholic priest showed up to the site of a car crash in Missouri on Sunday, with witnesses saying he offered a blessing before disappearing just as quickly as he arrived.

"I think it's a miracle," Raymond Reed, fire chief of New London, told USA Today. "I would say whether it was an angel that was sent to us in the form of a priest or a priest that became our angel, I don't know. Either way, I'm good with it."

Reed and other rescue workers spent 45 minutes attempting to remove 19-year-old college student Katie Lentz from the wreckage, to no avail. While Lentz was conscious and communicating with authorities, they said her vital signs were quickly dropping.

Rescue workers were left with little choice other than to turn the flipped car over. But such a move posed a potentially life-threatening injury to the young woman, who subsequently asked for someone to pray with her.

And that's when the mysterious priest reportedly appeared, saying "I will," praying with Lentz and some of the rescue workers and sprinkling the young woman with oil.

Reed and his team then turned the car over and freed Lentz, who was taken by helicopter to a nearby hospital.

But when Reed and other emergency workers tried to find the priest to thank him, he had already left the scene.

"We all go back to thank this priest and he's gone," Reed said.

The man was described as being in his late 50s and dressed in full priest's garb.

"Where did this guy come from?" added Lentz's friend Travis Wiseman. "We're looking for the priest and so far, no one has seen him. Whether it was a priest as an angel or an actual angel, he was an angel to all those and to Katie."

"We're all local people from four different towns," Reed said, noting that police had put up barriers to the crash site for two miles in each direction. "We've only got one Catholic church out of three towns and it wasn't their priest."

"I have 69 photographs that were taken from minutes after that accident happened - bystanders, the extrication, our final cleanup - and he's not in them," Reed added. "All we want to do is thank him."

Lentz's mother says her daughter is recovering from her injuries and gives the mysterious cleric credit for helping her pull through in her time of need.

"I do believe he certainly could have been an angel dressed in priest's attire because the Bible tells us there are angels among us," Carla Churchhill Lentz told USA Today. - Yahoo
